“Words from the west” is a personal blog with writing inspired by walks, weather and the wildness of Scotland’s west coast.
I started writing the blog in March 2008 when I decided to move from Edinburgh (a city in the east of Scotland) to a rural environment ‘somewhere in the west’.
Walking in the wild places of Scotland’s west highlands has always inspired me: to take pictures, to dream, to create and to write. Words pour out of me when I’m there.
I wanted to capture my journey, the start of a new life, and the burst of creativity I felt sure would follow. And I wanted a place to record those words I knew would itch to be written, once I’d found my place in the west.
Welcome to that place.
